Which debit cards can I use with the MoneyGram® Money Transfers app?
MoneyGram supports the use of both Visa and MasterCard.
What payment methods can I use for sending money online?
We want you to have options when sending money. You can securely pay for online transfers using a credit* or debit card (Visa, MasterCard). Other online payment options may be available in your country. Please check our calculator for the methods available to you. *Your credit card company may charge a cash advance fee and interest charges.
What is a Bank Account payment?
It is a convenient payment alternative to cards that allows you to pay directly from your bank account, using your existing banking credentials.
How do Bank Account payments work?
On the Review page of your Money Transfer, upon clicking on “Prepare Transaction”, you will be redirected to Plaid, our trusted partner, where you will be prompted to select your bank, log in, and confirm the payment with your preferred authentication method. You will then be redirected back to your MoneyGram Online account where you’ll receive confirmation with the status of your transaction.
Is it safe to use Plaid to pay with my bank account?
Yes. Plaid uses advanced encryption, secure connections, and strict data protection practices to keep your financial information safe. Your bank login details are never shared with us — Plaid simply connects your bank to complete the payment. How long does it take for a Bank Account payment to process?
In most cases, bank account payments are processed in real time. However, in some cases it may take up to 1 business day for the funds to reach MoneyGram. Keep in mind that sometimes it may take longer due to bank holidays and weekends.
Why is my bank not available for Bank Account payments?
Plaid is constantly improving their bank coverage. Check back soon to see if your bank has been enabled, but until then, you’ll need to use a different bank or payment method.
Why did my bank charge me a fee?
Some banks in Europe may charge a fee when you pay online using SEPA Instant. This fee is determined by your bank. Please refer to your bank’s fee schedule or contact them directly for more information.
Why has my Online Bank Transfer failed?
Your transfer may have failed for a few reasons, including but not limited to: Insufficient funds in your bank account Transfer amount over the daily send limit imposed by your bank Bank network issues If you’re having trouble, please try adding funds to your bank account, contacting your bank regarding any send limits they may impose, or try sending again later.
