MoneyGram Payment Systems, Inc. (“MoneyGram”) is committed to respecting and protecting your privacy. We value your trust and want you to understand how we protect, collect use and disclose the personal information you share with us.

This privacy statement applies to personal information we obtain anytime you interact with MoneyGram such as when you visit our website at moneygram.com, complete transaction forms or contact MoneyGram call centers. We want to ensure you are aware of our practices for collecting and processing personal information, which is information about a person that can be used to identify that person.

What we collect
We collect personal information to process transactions, provide products and services, and administer our business.  The type of personal information we collect depends on the goods or service requested but may include contact information such as name, address, telephone number or e-mail address, financial information including bank account information, or credit card information, and other identifying information such as passport or government identification number, or date of birth, and such other information we may collect with your consent or as permitted or required by law.

Generally, personal information is collected from you on transaction forms and by telephone to request product or services, and at our website to request information.

How we use it
We use personal information to complete your transaction, administer any problems that may arise in effecting the transaction, to better understand and manage our ongoing relationship with you, to assure good service, to prevent fraud and abuse and otherwise with consent or as permitted or required by law. MoneyGram may store personal information on databases in the United States for the purposes of the administration of our business, including our ongoing relationship with you, in accordance with applicable laws. 

Who we share it with
MoneyGram will not sell, rent, or lease your personal information with third parties. We may disclose all of the information, as described above, to our affiliates and our agents in connection with goods and services these parties perform for, or with, MoneyGram for the uses described in “how we use it”, and for other purposes as permitted or required by applicable law. Disclosures permitted or required by law may include cooperation with criminal or government investigations, fraud prevention and detection, and responses to a court order or subpoena.  MoneyGram agents are bound by appropriate confidentiality agreements. Our agents and affiliates may be located outside the European Economic Area.

MoneyGram may disclose some or all of the personal information to service providers for the purposes of processing requested transactions or to perform business support functions on our behalf. Our agreements with these service providers contain confidentiality provisions and restrictions on using this information for any other purposes.

If MoneyGram becomes involved in a merger, acquisition or any form of sale of some or all its assets, we may disclose personal information to third parties in connection with the evaluation of the transaction. The surviving company would have access to personal information which would continue to be subject to this privacy statement.

Choice 
MoneyGram will not use or share personal information provided to us in ways incompatible with the ones described above without informing you and offering you a choice as provided by the European Union Safe Harbor principles described below.

Accuracy & Access
MoneyGram is committed to ensuring that the information we obtain and use about you is accurate for its intended purpose. We will provide ways to give you reasonable access to your information in our database to review, update, or correct as applicable. You can request access to your personal information or help us maintain accurate records by informing us of changes or modifications to your personal information using one of the methods listed under “contacting MoneyGram". 

To protect your privacy and security, we will also take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting you access or enabling you to make corrections.  MoneyGram will retain personal information we have collected only for the time period needed for business purposes or as required by the corresponding regulatory authorities, and we will ensure secure destruction thereafter.

MoneyGram utilizes physical, electronic and procedural security measures to protect against loss, misuse, and alteration of information under our control.  MoneyGram offers industry–standard practices and security measures to safeguard and secure the personal information we collect. 

Access to personal information is restricted to employees and service providers who need to have access to that information as described in this privacy statement, in accordance with applicable laws. MoneyGram requires its service providers to observe standards with respect to the security, collection, use and sharing of personal information, and to comply with applicable law.

Preventing Identity Theft
MoneyGram is dedicated to protecting your personal information. We will never initiate a request for personal information or request your Money Transfer reference number from you by fax or email. Please do not send confidential personal information such as social security numbers, government identification numbers, or account numbers to MoneyGram via an unsecured email message.  Send confidential information to MoneyGram via posted mail or phone.

Do not be misled by emails that appear to be from MoneyGram and ask for personal information. If you receive a suspicious email requesting your personal information, please forward the email immediately to spoof@moneygram.com.

Browsing
When you browse our websites or request pages, we automatically collect certain technical information about your visit. Examples of this standard type of information include the type of Internet browser you use, the files you request and the domain name and country from which you request information. We use this type of technical information to make our website function correctly, to better understand how visitors use our website and to improve the website, its contents and functionality to meet your needs. As part of our efforts to protect customers from fraud, this information is also used to assist in authenticating who you are when you access the website.
